Project ''Na Mesa" . Meaning: At The Table

As part of the Gelderland Biennial, the Valkhof Museum in Nijmegen is organizing the project 'Na Mesa' (at the table) with visual artist David Paulus (Curaçao, 1986), who lives and works in Doetinchem.Na Mesa: For this project, Paulus developed a collaborative artwork consisting of a tablecloth and an installation over the past few months, together with people from Curaçao. The work was created using a variety of materials and techniques, including tufting, embroidery, and painting. David Paulus designed the overall concept and invited the participants to create elements that evoke memories of Curaçao for them.During the Saturday afternoon gatherings, participants from all over the Netherlands came together. Through the sharing of personal stories, memories, and experiences, an open dialogue emerged in which encounter, connection, and the shared relationship with the island took center stage.
